The Macon Scottish Rite
The Macon Scottish Rite is located at 1985 Vineville Avenue in Macon and was dedicated on January 25, 1964. The dedication address was by Illustrious Luther A. Smith, 33º Grand Commander of the Supreme Council Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite. NOTE: The name is Macon Scottish rite. We do not use Center in our name.
The Rite is located one block west of Interstate 75 on exit 164. The Building was dedicated by Otis E Dixon, 32º, Most Worshipful Grand Master of Masons in Georgia.
The evening of the first day saw the Investiture of the Knights Commander of the Court of Honour in addition to Worshipful Brother Dixon the class was honored by having a future Sovereign Grand Inspector General and several future Grand Masters of Masons in Georgia.
The building is a large stucco structure with a two story view from the front. The entrance is a multi glass door into a foyer. The office of the Secretary is to the right of the foyer and the library and an extra office is on the left.
There is a large lounge with sofas and television before entering the auditorium. The men's restroom is to the right with robbing rooms to the left of the lounge. The cloak room and cap storage area is adjacent to the lounge and foyer.
The auditorium has 365 permanent seats and a raised amphitheatre style for visual availability for observing the performance and degrees on the Lodge floor. The auditorium floor 65' x 36' and the stage area is 65' x 60'.
Macon being in the Center of the State has a large area in which to receive candidates. The auditorium has been used for the Investiture of the Knight Commander Court of Honour. In addition to the auditorium, the classroom on the right will seat 100 candidates.
The lower level consists of the dining room that will seat over 300 people for dinner. The kitchen is fully equipped with stainless steel tables nd restaurant style utensils, ovens and equipment that can be used to cook any amount of food.
This level is accessible by a stairway and is also accessible from either side of the dinning room for those who are unable to use the stairs. There is a large paved parking lot with 30 parking spaces and large unpaved parking area next to the paved parking lot.
Accessibility by handicapped can be made from either side of the building on both levels, each level contains restrooms for both ladies and gentlemen.
MISCELLANEOUS
The Scottish rite Executive Committee and the Scottish Rite Temple Corporation make available as a community service, the auditorium and dining room for activities through-out the year.
