Personal:

Born July 6, 1931. Married to LaVerne Booth Knowles. Have two daughters, Dr. Linda Knowles Nash of Marietta, Ga. And Kathy Knowles Ninas of Phenix  City, Al. They have two Grand  Children. 

Blue Lodge:

Made a Mason on August 2, 1954 in Rose Hill Lodge # 484 of Columbus, Ga. Served as Worshipful Master in 1960. Was Secretary for 15 years. Served as Director of Work and on the Board  of Directors.  Was Master of the Fourth Masonic District in 1970. Appointed to the Grand Lodge line in 1975. 

Served as Grand Master of Masons in Georgia in 1983. 

Scottish Rite

Received the 32º in the Valley of Columbus on November 4, 1954. Honored With the Knight Commander Court of Honor on October 20, 1969 and was Coroneted a 33º Honorary on December 5, 1981. Has served as presiding Officer of all bodies of the Valley of Columbus.  

Presently serving as Personal Representive of the SGIG in the Valley of Columbus. 

York Rite:

Member of Darley Chapter #7 RAM, Hope Council #4 R&SM and St Aldemar Commandery #3 KT.  Member of ChattahoocheeYork Rite   College #166. 

Past Sovereign of New Covenant Conclave, Red Cross of Constantine and a charter member of Muscogee Conclave RCOC, Columbus, Ga. 

Holds Order of Demolay Legion of Honor. 

Civic Activities:

Served as Harris County Commissioner and President of the Association of CountyCommissioners of Georgia. Was on the National Board of CountyOfficials. Served on the HarrisCounty Board Of Education. Chairman of The Harris County unit of the American Cancer Society.   Past President Of the Chamber of Commerce, Past President of the Lions Club and presently Serving as Chairman of the  Harris County Development Authority.
