What is the Scottish Rite Guard?

The Scottish Rite Guard (SRG) is thought of by many as the first honor group in Scottish Rite.

The SRG is one of the hardest working bodies within the Scottish Rite, making appearances at every meeting as greeters, tylers, escorts, crowd control, gophers, and just about anything else that the Valley of Atlanta sees a need to accomplish.  The SRG is known for ‘getting the job Done’.

Also, since working with the SRG is a very visible activity, when the time rolls around for nominations into other honor groups, members of the SRG are frequently viewed as candidates for honoring hard work and dedication.

What Does the SRG Do?

  • Attend every meeting of the Scottish Rite, if possible
  • Act as a reception committee at each meeting
  • Guard the Temple and assist the tyler at meetings
  • Serve as an honor guard and post the colors at each meeting
  • Assist officers of the Scottish Rite when asked
  • Solicit volunteers to make presentations of the Scottish Rite JROTC award
  • Make presentations of the Scottish Rite JROTC award of others cannot

What is the SRG Involved In?

  • Tyling Meetings
  • Escorting Candidates
  • Presenting the Colors
  • Presenting JROTC awards
  • Directing Parking at Events
  • Fill in during Degrees
  • Collect money for the hospital
